Never have we ever been so thankful that a dog has come into our rescue: Tinkerbell wasn't even on our radar, but we found out about her after committing to her "brother" Bandit, a pug who had been tied outside for the summer. Tinkerbell was added to our pack almost as an afterthought by her owner, who had neglected her raging skin infection for years. Day after day she watched as Tink scratched herself open and cried in pain and discomfort. Not once did this little dog see a vet for her skin, for her multiple masses, for vaccines or just general care. Whatever the reason for this neglect, we are grateful that Tink's owner chose to surrender her so that she could finally receive the attention she has needed for so long.

After just a few weeks in foster care, some antibiotics, antifungals, medicated baths, and anti-itch medication, Tinkerbell is already looking and feeling better! Her hair is growing back already, she doesn't scratch herself anymore. She is a happy and sweet little girl who is able to enjoy life at last. Tink is what we in rescue call "bomb proof"- safe with dogs, cats, kids, and new people. She is zero percent sassy (unless she's hungry, and then she has a bark that doesn't match her little body), and has been one of our easiest fosters ever. She is understandably independent, asking for nothing and grateful for all she receives. Although Tink was not let outside often in her previous home, she is doing well with house training and just needs some reminders, a regular schedule, and someone to keep an eye on her. She is fine to be left home alone, as she is an older gal who loves to nap, but she of course is happiest to be around her people and LOVES to lay outside in the sun.

Tink will have another recheck with our vet for her skin and ears, and we will re-evaluate her masses at that time. She may be able to have some removed, which would be done at our vet at our expense. We are looking for a family who can commit to Tink no matter how she looks, and who can help her on her journey to fully heal. Although she is a very easy addition to our pack here, Tink deserves a real family where she can be treated like the princess she has always been.
